2023-1-22: Cutting the crap

As a loyal reader of the site, I'm sure you can recall that I received a box of crap for Christmas. Literally. This is petrified poo from the western US. I took some time today to cut a couple of them open and see what was for dinner 70 million years ago.

Here's the first victim. Kinda funny how these basically look like what they are/were...

Here's the back side. I really don't have any idea of the best way to cut this thing so I'm just going to go for it.

sure, that fits.

Moment of truth....

WOAH!

My understanding is that little red piece that looks out of place is actually a gastrolith. The theory is that these vegetarians would scoop up gravel to help digest food similar to birds.

Here's number two. heh heh.

This one is pretty thin and I really have no clue what to expect.

Don't worry mom, I'll watch my fingers. Might be a close one.

All 10 fingers still there, here's the moment of truth

Holy Crap! That is just wild. This stuff is so fun to cut.

As a bonus, I'm going to each of you a gift. If you're ever playing Mega Man 4 on the original NES, here's the code for getting the secret wire tool. Enjoy!

As always, send me a note if you see something you like!
